The humble Petition of James
Moncur McLeod Warder of Victoria
Gaol in the Colony of Hongkong.
Showeth as follows: -
1. Your Petitioner was in the year 1901 selected by His Majesty's Frincipal Secretary of State for the Colonies for appointment as Principal Warder in Victoria Gaol in the Colony of Hongkong. Your Petitioner received a letter of appointment from the Secretary of State on the 29th day of
March 1901.

As a result of his selection your Petitioner left for Hongkong in due course together with his wife and family and in June 1901 was appointed to the said post.

Your Petitioner performed the duties of his post from the time of his appointment until the date next hereinafter
mentioned without any holiday.
4.
On the 13th February 1911 your petitioner was on duty in the Gacl and was called to "D" Hall by one Henry Ellis a -- Warder of the Gaol who informed your Petitioner of the escape of one of the prisoners. Your Petitioner then made a ------- statement to the Assistant Superintendent of the Gaol giving an account of all that he knew about the matter.
